#6: Heirloom Cherry Vanity Set

This review is from: Heirloom Cherry Vanity Set I have only had this vanity table for a few weeks, but I love it. It was easy to assemble and looks beautiful in my room. I feel like such a diva when I put on my silk robe and sit at this vanity table to do my makeup in the morning. The table has enough room to fit a small desk organizer (Sterilite 2023 Large Countertop Drawers, White) which is where I store my makeup, and a cup for my makeup brushes. On the other side, there's room for my jewelry box. Other suggestions include a lamp (if you dont have enough lighting), a magnifying mirror, or a mirrored perfume tray. I wouldn't suggest putting makeup that can drip inside of the drawer because the wood there looks like it can stain. There is enough room for a comb or a small hand mirror.

Assembly was pretty easy for me, but I am used to putting things together. It took me a little over a half an hour to put this together. The instructions for which screw size to use can be a bit confusing if you have never assembled furniture before. Be sure to tighten the legs to the vanity stool so that they are strong and not wobbly.

This is a lovely piece of furniture, but note: This is not a child's toy. It is important that you are delicate with this furniture. I would recommend putting this furniture in the space where it will be used and not moving it to different rooms very often. Also, the vanity stool seems stable for me so far, but I make sure to sit on it gently. I'm an average-sized woman and I haven't had any issues so far. The product arrived undamaged and I am very happy with it. I received it as a gift and the person who gave it to me paid around $75 for it. It truly does seem like a bargain. For the price, it doesn't seem "cheap" at all.

4 of 5 people found the following review helpful: 2.0 out of 5 stars quality???, November 17, 2010 This review is from: Heirloom Cherry Vanity Set To start, when the item arrived (on time) the corner of the actual vanity piece was damaged. Unfortunately I was not able to return due to the fact that it was a christmas gift. The other issue I had was with the vanity stool. After approximately 3 months the legs on the stool started to wiggle and come loose which I figured would happen with normal usage. What I did not expect is the legs to completely start coming off. (fyi: the person using this is very petite). They systematicall started loosening up very frequently no matter how much or how tight I tightened them. Also this item is labeled as "Heirloom", which the quality in this product is quite the contrary. In hindsight I should have just spent the extra few dollars for a better quality product.

Bedrooms – Should Be A Safe Haven

by: Beverly Marshall
We spend a great deal of time in our bedrooms, hopefully 8 hours, and decorating ideas for them should reflect that and be well thought out. Very few other places should capture our attention like that of the bedroom. It doesn’t matter if you are alone in the bed or not, you might try looking at this room with Feng Shui eyes. Feng Shui is the Chinese art of placement. In Feng Shui, it is said to make a difference how you feel according to where you place the bed and what is around you when you sleep. Feng Shui suggests that you should feel safe and secure in a bedroom. You don’t need to practice Feng Shui to realize that. You should also feel comfortable and very calm energy there because you spend so much time in that room. Sometimes that feeling you get speaks volumes about how you sleep and it can determine how much time you really want to spend in the bedroom.

Bedroom Closet Organizers -

by: Steve Valentino
If you are like most people, your life is pretty hectic. Whether you spend your days in the office, in the fields, with your children, etc., you are busy. Your home should be a haven. When you come into your bedroom, you want to relax, unwind, rest. That is difficult if you can’t even open the closet door for fear of having items fall on your head! The first step to creating a relaxing bedroom retreat is installing a bedroom closet organizer.

Bedroom closet organizers are available to match most any décor. No matter your personal style or the size of your closet, there is probably a closet organizer to match. You are limited only by your own imagination—and perhaps your budget. Bedroom closet organizers are available in a wide variety of materials, styles, and price ranges. Materials such as wood, metal, wire, and laminate are readily available.

Bedroom closet organizers are commercially available as either closet organizer kits or closet organizer systems. Kits are less expensive and are available at most local home improvement stores and some department stores. Closet organizer kits contain all shelving, hardware, and components needed. Most are adjustable, so there is usually no cutting involved. However, many bedroom closet organizer kits will needed to be installed, so drilling is usually required. Kits cost around $40 and up.

Bedroom closet organizers are also available as closet organizer systems. These modular units are pre-assembled. You simply have to measure your space and determine the correct pieces. These units can be permanently mounted to the wall or temporary floor-based units. An assortment of configurations is available depending on the size of the closet and your individual needs. Shoe racks, shelves, racks, drawers, and more are available, and can be mixed and matched to create a unique look. Closet organizer systems can be purchased at local home improvement stores or at specialty stores. Prices can range from the low $100’s to the high $1000’s.

With a touch of creativity, a little bit of money, and a well-designed closet organizer, your bedroom can be a neat, orderly haven.

Bedding is Fashion for the Bed

by: Beverly Marshall
Ladies, we spend a lot of time in the morning getting ready for the day. We take showers, put on makeup, blow dry our hair and put on just the right outfit we feel good in. Then we top it off with the hot colors of accessories from sunglasses to sandals - the details of what we wear matters in how we look and feel. Maybe it shouldn’t be that way, but it is. You can think of your bedding as fashion for the bedroom because you dress your bed just as clothing and accessories dress your body. The little details we put in our bedrooms such as vintage rag rugs, beaded lampshades, hand crocheted pillowcases or satin sheets will make all the difference of how we feel as we spend time in our bedrooms.

A Look at Luxury Down Comforters -

by: Kevin Stith
For those striving to create a bedroom retreat, a haven from the rest of the world, luxury is a necessity. Along with good color choices and fine furniture, a lavishly dressed bed is top priority. One of the most important ingredients for an extravagant bed is a luxury down comforter, and price is no object.

Down comforters are made from a variety of materials. They can be made from the down of ducks or geese. The most luxurious, though, are those made from goose down. Goose down is heavier and produces warmer, fluffier, and more luxurious down comforters.

A Dehumidifier Wrings Out Your Home

by: Beverly Marshall
Anyone that has a home office or bedroom in the basement knows how valuable a dehumidifier can be. Without it, the basement would be damp and useless, mold and mildew would grow promoting ill health and insects would have a perfect place to live. Your basement is underground, humid and in constant contact with the cool damp earth. If you don’t control the moisture and humidity throughout the year through dehumidifiers, your carpet and furniture could be ruined, even photographs can be destroyed. I have always found that I am more comfortable when the humidity is lower. I don’t like hot weather, but I would rather have it be dry and hot than cool and damp. What is it they say? “It’s not the heat, it’s the humidity.” You might want to consider installing a ceiling fan to work in tandem with the dehumidifier. You can find all kinds of styles at http://www.portable-air-conditioiner-4u.com. They help circulate the air, will dry out the basement even more and you will feel much more comfortable. Ceiling fans don’t cool the air, but you will feel better because of evaporation than if no fan were there at all.

A Change in Season Reflects a Change in Mood

by: ARA
(ARA) – Change is in the air. Fall is here and winter isn’t far away. It’s one of the busiest times of year for interior decorators.

“The reason we’re so busy is people really get energized in the fall,” says Thomas Pheasant, an award winning interior designer from Washington, D.C. “The change in temperature serves as a signal to start focusing more on the indoors to get ready for winter.”
